I still don't really understand this, so a pyramid isn't a prism, but it can be made into a prism by making the lateral edges perpendicular to the base edges.
To show that the volume of a pyramid is 1/3 the volume of a prism that has the same base and height there is a really cool test you can do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjbilpBaA-U
SEAN!!!! Seriously are you kidding me!!! it's obvious!!!! ok a regular pyramid has a base that is a regular shape like a regular hexagon or a square, and the vertex is in the middle, except raised up to make it 3-D. while Pyramids can have regular bases or irregular bases, but the vertex, when lowered to its base is not in the center it is off-center!!! it's quite simple you fool! Does this count as a Comment?
Yeah, what Sean said about the divide by three thing? I mean, I get that it happens, I just don't get WHY! Also, the pic's amusing, as I am a ski person. :) Yay skiing! Yay geometry! And all that good stuff.
theres a typo in the top right scroll down thingy of the glog it says "meet at vertex"
ReplyDeletePhil guess what?! i don't care, you stinkin' grammar NAZI!!!!!!

Why is it that to find the volume, you always divide it by 3?
ReplyDeleteAsk Ms.Hunt, for i don't know.
